Fortum Charge & Drive (C&D) India, in collaboration with Pine Labs, has introduced the RuPay Pre-paid Card, a flexible prepaid card that enables users to make payments for charging sessions at Fortum charging stations throughout India. The official launch of the card took place at ‘The FINCHAM Annual Gala 2022,’ attended by industry dignitaries.
Starting from January 1, 2023, customers can order the card through the Fortum C&D App by completing minimal KYC (Know Your Customer). Additionally, from the same date, Fortum Charge & Drive India will transition from a postpaid to a pre-paid payment method for EV users.
The RuPay Pre-paid Card can not only be used to pay for EV charging at Fortum charging stations but can also be utilized for charging at non-Fortum stations provided the station operator accepts RuPay cards. Furthermore, users can use the card for online and offline transactions at various e-commerce platforms, stores, restaurants, and other merchant outlets where RuPay cards are accepted.
Fortum C&D continuously strives to provide innovative solutions to enhance the charging experience for its users. The introduction of the RuPay Card aims to offer a convenient and hassle-free payment method, fulfilling the diverse needs of EV users and providing them with flexibility and control over their funds. Developed in partnership with Pine Labs, a trusted provider of prepaid card retail solutions, the card complements the customer-centric approach of Fortum C&D.

He believes that the RuPay Pre-paid Card will grant customers the freedom and convenience to have a more efficient charging experience. Kumar Sudarsan, President of Issuing Business at Pine Labs, also expressed delight in partnering with Fortum Charge & Drive India and supporting the expansion of EV infrastructure in India. Pine Labs powers the co-branded prepaid program on the RuPay network, enabling Fortum’s customers to seamlessly pay for their offline and online transactions using prepaid cards issued by Pine Labs.
