River, a Bengaluru-based startup that makes electric vehicles has launched an electric scooter, ‘Indie’. It is priced at Rs 125,000, ex-showroom. The OEM calls it the “SUV of scooters” and will be the first to sell this electric scooter in Bengaluru. River’s Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Aravind Mani noted that the scooter provides a mix of utility and lifestyle.
Indie comes with 14-inch wheels. This is the first Indian electric scooter to have such a feature. This scooter has the most storage of any scooter, a 12L front glovebox, a huge 43L under-the-seat storage, and a Lock & Load pannie. The scooter also includes a signature twin-beam headlamp design and a unique tail lamp design. It also has a motorcycle-inspired clip-on handlebar.
River’s Co-Founder and Chief Products Officer, Vipin George said, “Indie was inspired by the modern Indian, who is always on the go, who wants the best of every day. Indie’s unique mix of design elements and technical specifications give it a distinctive character that will inspire you to do more.”
Indie features the longest and most spacious seat in the segment. It also has twin rear hydraulic suspension and telescopic for suspension. The vehicle is powered by a 6.7kW motor, which can reach a top speed of 90 kmph. It also has a gradeability of just 18 degrees. The 4 kWh battery can be used in Eco, Rush, and Ride modes. It has a real-world range of 120 km. A standard charger can charge it to 80% in just five hours.
The electric scooter is available in Monsoon Blue, Summer Red, and Spring Yellow colors.
