Tata Motors To Manufacture 80,000 EVs In Current Fiscal Year

Tata Motors is ramping up production of electric vehicles to manufacture 80,000 plus units in the current financial year (2022-23) according to a source.

Tata Motors manufactured and sold 19,000 electric vehicles in the last fiscal (2021-22). The EV market is seeing boost in its demand more than ever and also more than supply.

Last year, the company allowed to launch 10 new EV models by March 2026 and will invest around $2 billion to develop new vehicle infrastructure, and technology.

Among total sales of EVs in India, Tata accounts for 90%. But EV segment only consititute 1% of the total sale of India’s annual sales of around 3 million vehicles.

Indian has target of having 30% of its car electric by 2030. Recently, Tata Motors delivered 101 EVs (70 Nexon EVs and 31 Tigor EVs) in a handover ceremony for customers in Chennai through Srilakshmi Auto Enterprises. This marks the highest electric vehicles delivered ever in a single day in Tamil Nadu.
