The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) hosted a discussion on the localization of e-bike and scooter components in collaboration with the BCM Foundation.
The goal of the session was to educate the local industry, particularly bicycle and automotive component makers in the region, on how to improve their technology and diversify into the electric vehicle (EV) and e-bike component production.
BCM Foundation director Dr Prem Kumar hosted this discussion and invited the other international speakers to share their expertise with the audience. Over 100 CII and industry association members attended the discussion.
Hero Cycles, MD, SK Rai highlighted the possibilities of e-vehicles in India as wide due to the government’s backing through various subsidy programmes.
He predicted that internal combustion engines will be phased out of Indian highways and substituted with futuristic technology such as e-vehicles.
Birmingham City University Assistant Director Enterprise Bernard Curren discussed the scope of e-vehicles in the international market as well as the principles that India may use to become a worldwide provider of e-vehicles.
Ajay Sinha of STEAMhouse-MBCIE discussed startups and the essential prerequisites for company growth.
P S Choudhary, Hero Lectro Cargo CEO, spoke to the listeners about the present market and the rise of e-vehicles. He also addressed upcoming innovations that will help India become an industrial giant, at least in the automotive sector.
“Electric automobiles and bikes are the next age of transportation, hence the globe is transitioning to e-bikes and e-bicycles,” stated CII Ludhiana Zone chairman Ashpreet Sahni.
Ludhiana, a long-standing centre of bicycle and car component manufacturing in the nation, now has the possibility of becoming an international centre for high-quality large-scale commercial production of premium e-bicycles in addition to high-end bicycles, Sahni further added.
