Delhi Is Becoming The EV Hub Of India – Arvind Kejriwal

According to Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi is becoming the EV hub of India. EV sales in the city were 6 times higher than the rest of the country according to the transport department. Kejriwal said, “I’m glad Delhi is emerging as the EV capital of India with a 9% share of EVs. Delhi is doing everything possible to reduce its contribution to pollution.” In Delhi, electric vehicles were the second-most bought vehicles in the September-November quarter. This is due to the electric vehicle policy introduced by the government where EV sales have grown and EVs are gaining more popularity. The EV Policy of the Delhi Government aims for 25% EV registration by 2024. It also became the first city in the country to exempt registration fees and road tax for EVs.

e-Ashwa Automotive Launches Series Of EVs

e-Ashwa Automotive under its brand e-Ashwa launches a series of electric vehicles for business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) markets. The company was selling electric vehicles of other brands in the market through tie-ups for the past 3 years. Recently, the company set up its manufacturing unit in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. e-Ashwa rolled out 12 electric two-wheelers and 8 electric three-wheelers models. The company has around 630 exclusive outlets and other franchisees in the country. The demand for electric vehicles is rising in markets and favorable policies by central and state governments have made it possible to launch self-manufactured vehicles.

PFC Enters Pact To Finance 350 Electric Buses In Uttar Pradesh

PFC, a Maharatna company and India’s leading NBFC in the power sector, today signed an agreement to lend Rs 275 crore for the deployment of 350 electric buses across nine cities of Uttar Pradesh. The agreement was signed with GreenCell Mobility, which is an e-mobility platform supported by Governments of India and the United Kingdom to boost the adoption of electric vehicles in the country. The buses will be deployed in key cities of UP including Agra, Meerut, Aligarh, Bareilly, Ghaziabad & Mathura. The government of India has launched the FAME-II scheme with an allocation of Rs.3500 crore for the promotion of the adoption of electric buses. Electric buses offer sustainable mobility solutions by tackling challenges of poor air quality and also reducing the carbon footprints of the nation.

ETO Motors Deploys Over 50 E-Rickshaws In India’s First EV City

ETO Motors, the country’s leading electric mobility solutions & services company commenced operations of over 50 e-rickshaws at Kevadia in Gujarat, in partnership with The Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority (SOUADTGA). The company would further look at deploying over 350 Electric Vehicles in the next four to six months.  Announcements of developing Kevadia as India’s first electric vehicle city were made as early as June 2021 when the Hon. Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi stated that Kevadia would have several firsts, including the world’s tallest Statue of Unity and becoming the first electric vehicle city in the country.

Mumbai To Launch EV Charging System At 8 Stations

The Central Railway (CR) to launch electric vehicle charging stations at 8 stations of the city. These stations are Bhandup, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Kurla), Panvel, Kalyan, Parel, Byculla, and Dadar. Currently, there is only 1 EV charging point which is at CSMT. Central Railway has permitted parking space outside Kurla Station for Yulu bikes which is convenient for office goers. Electric auto stands is also available outside Thane station with a battery swapping point. The BEST plans to establish charging points for electric buses at 55 places near railway stations, a dozen bus stations, and 27 bus depots. Earlier, Etrio which is one of the leading electric mobility companies in India has now expanded its footprints into Maharashtra by establishing a dealership presence in partnership with Mumbai-based Vijay Security Systems Pvt. Ltd.

Hydrogen Fuel for Public Transport

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari in his written reply in the Rajya Sabha informed that to promote vehicles operating on hydrogen fuel, this Ministry has issued a notification, vide G.S.R. 889(E), dated 16.09.2016, for use of Hydrogen as an automotive fuel in the country. The specifications for Hydrogen for Internal Combustion Engine have been specified in Annexure IV-W of the said notification. 18% blend of Hydrogen with CNG (HCNG) has been notified by this Ministry vide GSR 585(E) dated 25th September 2020. This Ministry vide GSR 579(E) dated 23rd September 2020 has notified safety norms regarding hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and its components.

Tata Motors With Maharashtra Government To Set Up Vehicle Scrapping Facility

Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra, through the Industries, Energy and Labour Department, Government of Maharashtra, with an intent to support setting up a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Maharashtra. The MoU was signed at the Conference on Investment Opportunities in Highway, Transport and Logistics in Mumbai, Maharashtra, in presence of the Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, and other delegates. The proposed scrappage centre will have the capacity of recycling up to 35,000 vehicles a year for end-of-life passengers and commercial vehicles.

First 3-Phase AC MEMU Train With BHEL Electrics Rolls Out

The first 3-phase Ethernet-based AC Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) equipped with BHEL manufactured electrics has rolled out from RCF Kapurthala to Asansol MEMU shed, Eastern Railways, signaling a new era in the urban transportation segment. The 12 coach MEMU train is equipped with a 3-phase IGBT-based converter and inverter designed and developed by BHEL. Significantly, the Ethernet-based Train Control Management System which provides advanced control features has been developed in-house in collaboration with a global OEM. With a focus on passenger comfort and safety, this AC MEMU train is designed for speeds of up to 110 kmph which will make travel faster and comfortable for passengers.
