GAC Group Achieves Breakthrough With Graphene-Based Fast-Charging Battery Technology: The Aion V Vehicle Model Equipped With The New Battery Is Scheduled To Go Into Production From September

All over the world, novel energy vehicles have become the key solution to low-carbon transportation, but battery technology has continued to hold back the development and widespread use of electric vehicles. In recent years, graphene, a new material with excellent electrical conductivity, has become the key to breakthroughs in battery technology.

Graphene initially cost up to a few hundred dollars per gram and was therefore also known as “black gold”. At the “2020 GAC Tech Day” in July, the GAC Group unveiled its 3DG (three-dimensional graph) production technology with independent intellectual property rights and solved the problem of the high cost of graphs. The simple, stable and efficient production process reduces costs to just a tenth of the conventional process.

After low-cost, large-scale production of graphene, the GAC Group has made major breakthroughs in the downstream use of graphene. The electric vehicle industry is particularly interested in the graphene-based super-fast charging battery. This graphene-based battery has a 6C fast charge capability and, in combination with a 600A high-performance charger, can be charged to 80% capacity within 8 minutes. The battery has also passed the strictest safety test – the “Battery Shooting Test”, which certifies the highest quality and reliability.

This graph-based battery technology is industry-leading. It significantly shortens the charging time and extends the battery life considerably, which eliminates the current “problem points” of all-electric vehicles. Fortunately, battery technology has now made its way from the laboratory to real production. Aion V, the first vehicle model to feature this graphene-based battery is currently in the series testing phase.
