Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a strategic collaboration between its EV charging arm, Charge_iN, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to accelerate the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across India.

Under the agreement, Charge_iN by Mahindra will leverage HPCL’s vast network of over 24,400 fuel stations to install EV charging stations nationwide. The move is aimed at enhancing convenience for EV users while supporting the country’s growing shift toward sustainable mobility.

HPCL already operates more than 5,400 EV charging stations under its HP e-Charge brand, along with over 150 battery swapping stations. The partnership is expected to significantly expand this footprint, particularly along key highways and in major urban centers.

As part of the initiative, the new charging stations will feature advanced 180 kW dual-gun chargers, designed to provide faster and more efficient charging for electric four-wheelers. This development aligns with Mahindra’s broader vision of building an ultra-fast charging network to support the rapid adoption of electric vehicles in India.

The collaboration comes at a crucial time as India intensifies efforts to transition toward green transportation. By combining HPCL’s extensive retail infrastructure with Mahindra’s EV ecosystem capabilities, the partnership aims to create a seamless and reliable charging experience for users across the country.

Officials highlighted that this agreement represents a significant step in strengthening India’s public EV charging network and advancing the government’s clean mobility goals. It also underscores the growing role of public-private collaborations in building sustainable infrastructure.

Founded in 1945, Mahindra Group operates in over 100 countries with a workforce of more than 324,000 employees and holds leadership positions in sectors such as automotive, farm equipment, and IT services. Meanwhile, HPCL, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise, continues to diversify into renewable and alternative energy solutions, with a strong focus on electric mobility.

The partnership is expected to play a key role in enabling widespread EV adoption and supporting India’s journey toward a cleaner and more sustainable transportation ecosystem.
