Schneider Electric has announced the elevation of Sumati Sahgal as Vice President – Secure Power & Data Centres for the Greater India Zone. In her new role, she will oversee the company’s Secure Power and Data Centre business, taking end-to-end responsibility for business performance, strategic execution, and customer experience across the region.
The leadership move underscores Schneider Electric’s focus on strengthening its leadership pipeline and empowering internal talent to drive growth in key strategic areas. It also highlights India’s growing importance as a hub for digital infrastructure, innovation, and sustainable energy transformation.
Congratulating Sahgal, Deepak Sharma, Zone President Greater India and MD & CEO of Schneider Electric India, said her extensive cross-industry expertise and proven leadership in business transformation would further strengthen the company’s Secure Power and Data Centre ecosystem. He added that her focus would include driving growth in the cloud and service provider segments, expanding enterprise channels, and enhancing customer and partner engagement.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Sahgal noted that the rapid rise of AI and digital technologies is significantly increasing demand for robust data centre infrastructure. She emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering resilient power solutions, efficient cooling systems, and intelligent infrastructure to help customers build scalable and sustainable digital ecosystems. She also highlighted the importance of Schneider Electric’s end-to-end “Grid to Chip and Chip to Chiller” portfolio, supported by advanced software and service capabilities.
In her new role, Sahgal will focus on driving profitable growth across the Secure Power and Data Centre portfolio, including critical infrastructure projects. Her mandate includes accelerating expansion in the cloud and service provider segment, strengthening go-to-market strategies, and positioning Schneider Electric as a leader in AI-ready infrastructure solutions.
Prior to this appointment, Sahgal served as Vice President – Home Solutions at Schneider Electric India, where she led the Homes & Distribution division for the Greater India Zone. During her tenure, she played a key role in portfolio innovation, go-to-market transformation, and building a strong consumer brand presence.
With over 20 years of experience across the technology and telecommunications sectors, Sahgal brings strong expertise in P&L management, business transformation, and customer-centric growth. She holds an MBA in Marketing from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Delhi.
The appointment comes at a time when demand for data centres and digital infrastructure is surging in India, driven by AI adoption, cloud expansion, and the country’s ongoing digital transformation.
