Audi Sport has introduced the all-new Audi RS 5 plug-in hybrid (PHEV), marking the brand’s first high-performance electrified RS model that blends motorsport-grade performance with everyday electric driving capability.

The new RS 5 combines a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 375 kW (510 PS) with a 130 kW electric motor, delivering a total system output of 470 kW (639 PS) and 825 Nm of torque. Audi claims the high-performance hybrid can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and offers an all-electric driving range of up to 84 km (up to 87 km in city conditions).

World-First quattro with Dynamic Torque Control

A key highlight of the new RS 5 is Audi Sport’s newly developed quattro drivetrain with Dynamic Torque Control, described as the world’s first electromechanical torque-vectoring system in a production car. The system can distribute torque between rear wheels in milliseconds, improving agility, stability, and traction during acceleration, braking, and cornering.

High-Performance Hybrid Powertrain

The RS 5 features a 25.9 kWh battery (22 kWh net) with a 400-volt electrical system, enabling up to 11 kW AC charging, which can fully charge the battery in around 2.5 hours. Audi has enhanced battery cell chemistry and thermal management to ensure consistent performance even under extreme driving conditions.

Aggressive RS Design and Advanced Interior

The new RS 5 is wider than the standard A5, featuring flared fenders, a honeycomb grille, aerodynamic diffuser, and RS sport exhaust system. Inside, it offers a curved OLED-based digital cockpit with a 14.5-inch MMI display, RS-specific performance data, and optional head-up display. Sustainable interior materials, including recycled textiles and microfiber, are also available.

Driving Modes and Performance Features

Drivers can choose from multiple drive modes, including EV, Hybrid, RS sport, and RS torque rear, which enables controlled drifts on closed circuits. A boost function provides maximum acceleration for 10 seconds, while advanced regenerative braking and predictive energy management enhance efficiency.

Market Availability

In Germany, the Audi RS 5 Sedan starts at €106,200, while the RS 5 Avant is priced from €107,850. Order books open in Q1 2026, with deliveries expected to begin in summer 2026.

Audi executives said the RS 5 PHEV represents the beginning of a new era for RS models, combining electrification with Audi Sport’s signature driving dynamics and performance DNA.
