Greaves Electric Mobility’s electric two-wheeler brand Ampere is set to launch its 6th Gen Electric Scooter, positioned as an “ICE Breaker” aimed at challenging India’s dominant petrol scooter segment. The new model is scheduled for release in FY27 and targets the high-volume sub-₹1 lakh scooter category.

The company said the upcoming electric scooter is engineered to deliver higher performance and improved ownership economics, with the objective of competing directly with high-selling internal combustion engine (ICE) scooters. The sub-₹1 lakh segment represents the largest volume opportunity in India’s scooter market and remains largely petrol-led.

According to Greaves Electric Mobility, the Ampere 6th Gen Electric Scooter is designed to offer higher torque for quicker acceleration and better load-carrying capability, improved gradeability for stronger hill-climbing performance, and reduced running and maintenance costs. The model is also expected to feature software-defined capabilities such as over-the-air updates, AI/ML-enabled connectivity, remote diagnostics and prognostics, along with home charging and reverse mode.

The company aims to position the scooter as a mass-market premium alternative, combining ICE-comparable performance with the long-term benefits of electric mobility. With over 3 lakh electric vehicles on the road and more than 400 service touchpoints across India, Greaves Electric Mobility is focusing on scalable growth and expanding its product portfolio for first-time EV buyers.

Greaves Cotton Limited, the parent company, said the launch aligns with its broader mission to democratise smart and sustainable mobility and accelerate India’s transition to electric transportation.
