Volvo Trucks has strengthened its leadership position in the European heavy-duty truck market, emerging as the region’s top brand for the second consecutive year. In 2025, the company secured a 19.0% market share in the heavy truck segment (16 tonnes and above), up from 17.9% in 2024.
The strongest demand for Volvo trucks came from key European markets including the United Kingdom, France, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, and Spain, underscoring the brand’s broad appeal across the region.
A major contributor to this success has been the Volvo FH Aero, the company’s flagship long-distance truck. Designed with enhanced aerodynamics and advanced technologies such as digital camera mirrors, the FH Aero delivers up to 7% better fuel efficiency compared with the previous Volvo FH model. The truck has seen strong market acceptance, with nearly 33,000 FH Aero units ordered across Europe in 2025.
“We are very proud to be market leader in Europe for the second consecutive year,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “Our ambition is to be our customers’ best business partner, and this achievement is clear proof of the trust our customers place in us. I would like to thank both our customers and our employees for making this possible.”
Volvo Trucks’ performance in Europe reflects a broader global footprint. In 2025, the company was either the market leader or the second-largest truck brand in 30 countries worldwide.
Alongside market leadership, Volvo Trucks continues to accelerate its transition toward fossil-free transport. The company aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 through a three-path technology strategy encompassing battery-electric vehicles, fuel-cell electric trucks, and combustion engines powered by renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas, biodiesel, and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO).
“We will continue to innovate and introduce new trucks that support our customers’ businesses while also contributing to the decarbonization of our industry,” Alm added. “By investing in multiple technologies, we can provide transport solutions that meet diverse customer needs across different markets.”
The achievement reinforces Volvo Trucks’ position as a leading force in the European commercial vehicle sector, combining strong market performance with a clear long-term commitment to sustainability.
