VinFast has secured a major safety milestone in India after its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs received the highest 5-star safety certification from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). The company said the results highlight VinFast’s engineering strength and reinforce its customer-first approach in product development.

Strong Scores in Adult and Child Protection

According to Bharat NCAP results shared by VinFast, both models achieved top ratings in the two main categories of safety evaluation:

  • VinFast VF 6
    • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 27.13/32
    • Child Occupant Protection (COP): 44.41/49
  • VinFast VF 7
    • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 28.54/32
    • Child Occupant Protection (COP): 45.25/49

VinFast said the scores reflect high protection levels for both adult and child passengers across both vehicles.

Crash Tests Show Maximum Protection in Key Areas

In frontal impact testing, VinFast stated that the VF 6 and VF 7 achieved maximum scores of 4.000 points for head & neck and upper leg protection for both driver and passenger.

In side impact tests, both SUVs reportedly scored:

  • 16.000/16.000 for adult occupant protection
  • 8.000/8.000 for child occupant protection

VinFast also highlighted pole side impact results, noting head injury assessment values of 109 for the VF 6 and 131 for the VF 7 — significantly below Bharat NCAP’s critical threshold of 700, indicating strong head protection in high-risk crash situations.

Bharat NCAP: India’s Official Vehicle Safety Program

Bharat NCAP is India’s government-supported vehicle safety assessment programme, designed to evaluate occupant protection through structured crash testing. The program awards safety ratings from 3 to 5 stars, and achieving the maximum rating confirms the VF 6 and VF 7 meet the highest safety standards currently applied in the Indian market.

VinFast India CEO Calls It a Key Milestone

Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, described the achievement as an important step in building customer trust in one of the world’s largest automotive markets.

He said the results demonstrate VinFast vehicles are built on a robust engineering foundation and meet demanding safety assessment requirements, adding that the company remains committed to continuously improving its electric vehicles.

Made in Tamil Nadu, Packed with Safety Tech

VinFast confirmed both VF 6 and VF 7 are assembled at its manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, India. The two premium electric SUVs are built on an EV-dedicated platform and equipped with:

  • 7 airbags
  • Variant-dependent smart ADAS features such as:
    • Auto Lane Changing Assist
    • Adaptive Cruise Control
    • Emergency Lane Keeping Assist
    • Front & Rear Automatic Emergency Braking
    • Blind Spot Detection

VinFast said these systems strengthen collision avoidance and driving support across diverse road and traffic conditions.
