ThunderPlus, one of India’s fastest-growing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure companies, has launched a pioneering electric mobility road journey across Andhra Pradesh to demonstrate the readiness of the country’s EV charging ecosystem for long-distance travel.

In a live validation exercise, Rajeev YSR, Executive Director and CEO of ThunderPlus, is travelling entirely on electric vehicles from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam, stopping at key locations including Suryapet, Gollapudi (Vijayawada), Nalajerla (Eluru), and Visakhapatnam, using only ThunderPlus charging stations along the route.

“This journey is not about proving whether EVs can travel long distances—the debate is over,” said Rajeev YSR. “It is about proving that the charging infrastructure is ready. With ultra-fast chargers deployed at strategic locations, EV travel becomes stress-free, reliable, and commercially viable for families, daily commuters, and large fleets alike.”

The road trip highlights ThunderPlus’ high-capacity charging hubs, including a 480 kW station in Hyderabad, a 560 kW ultra-fast charger in Suryapet near Hotel Logili, and a 500 kW facility at Gollapudi in Vijayawada. Additional 240 kW stations at Nalajerla and on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam ensure reliable access for urban and coastal destinations. Vehicles were able to reach up to 80% charge in approximately 20 minutes, demonstrating the efficiency of opportunity charging for long-distance journeys.

The journey also underscores the evolving expectations of EV users, with demand shifting toward 120 kW, 240 kW, and higher-capacity chargers for highway travel. ThunderPlus charging stations are designed to provide high uptime, fleet-ready scalability, and seamless digital access for easy station discovery, payments, and real-time support.

Beyond Andhra Pradesh, ThunderPlus plans to extend similar high-speed charging corridors to Bhubaneswar, Chennai, and Bengaluru, while building integrated charging ecosystems with hotels and highway destinations.

“As India moves towards large-scale electrification, charging infrastructure will determine the pace of adoption,” added Rajeev YSR. “This Andhra Pradesh road trip offers a powerful glimpse of how robust charging networks are silently enabling the future of mobility.”
