Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the STARIA Electric, its first fully electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), at the Brussels Motor Show, marking a major expansion of the company’s electric vehicle (EV) portfolio in Europe and global markets.

Positioned as Hyundai’s flagship electric MPV, the STARIA Electric combines long-range capability, ultra-fast charging and a spacious interior, targeting families, shuttle operators and commercial users seeking zero-emission mobility without compromising on practicality.

At the heart of the vehicle is an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a 160 kW (218 PS) front-wheel-drive electric motor, delivering 350 Nm of torque. Hyundai claims an estimated WLTP driving range of up to 400 km on a single charge, placing it among the longest-range electric MPVs in its segment.

A key highlight is Hyundai’s 800-volt electrical architecture, previously seen in its IONIQ EV lineup. The system enables DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes, while reducing heat generation and maintaining stable performance during repeated high-power charging sessions. An 11 kW AC onboard charger is also available for home and workplace charging.

“STARIA Electric brings our EV expertise to a vehicle that customers already know and trust,” said Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe, adding that the model combines the original STARIA’s space and flexibility with high-voltage charging technology to deliver “practical electric mobility for real-world European use.”

Beyond emissions-free driving, the MPV is designed for modern energy needs. It supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing users to power external devices such as tools, laptops or camping equipment directly from the vehicle’s battery. High-power 100W USB ports, digital key access and over-the-air (OTA) software updates further enhance its connected EV ecosystem.

Hyundai will offer two variants at launch — a 7-seat Luxury version for private and leisure use, and a 9-seat Wagon version aimed at group travel and shuttle services. Both variants feature a flat-floor architecture enabled by the electric platform, improving cabin flexibility and storage capacity.

Despite being fully electric, the STARIA Electric retains strong utility credentials, including a towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg (braked), supported by advanced thermal management and battery conditioning systems to ensure stable performance under high load.

Production will begin at Hyundai’s Ulsan plant in South Korea, with sales scheduled to start in Korea and Europe in the first half of 2026, followed by other markets.

With the STARIA Electric, Hyundai strengthens its push toward electrification in the people-mover segment, offering a combination of long range, fast charging, advanced safety systems and everyday usability — a move that underscores the growing role of electric vehicles beyond passenger cars and into family and commercial mobility.
