In a remarkable shift toward electrification, BMW Group India reported a 200 % increase in electric vehicle (EV) sales in 2025, with EVs now accounting for 21 % of the company’s total car sales, up from 8 % the previous year. This surge highlights a growing appetite for premium electric mobility among Indian consumers.
Leading the charge in the luxury EV segment is the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, which became the best-selling premium EV in the country, followed closely by the flagship i7 model. BMW’s expanding EV lineup now includes seven electric cars and two electric scooters across its BMW and MINI brands, reflecting a strategic push to capture diverse segments of the growing EV market.
The company’s success is supported by an enhanced EV ecosystem, including destination charging points, smart e‑routing, charging concierge services, and high-performance electric corridors, aimed at improving convenience and ownership experience for EV customers.
Industry analysts note that BMW’s performance underscores the rapid adoption of electric mobility in India’s luxury segment, driven by rising awareness, government incentives, and infrastructure expansion. The iX1, in particular, is emerging as a gateway vehicle attracting new buyers to premium EV ownership.
BMW Group India’s 2025 results illustrate a broader trend in the Indian automotive market, where electrification is increasingly becoming a key driver of growth, signaling a decisive shift from traditional combustion engines to a cleaner, technology-driven future.
