Volvo Trucks has received its largest order to date in Canada, delivering 125 units of its all-new Volvo VNL trucks to Highlight Motor Group, a leading transportation company operating long-haul routes across North America.
The order marks a significant milestone for Volvo’s flagship long-haul model, with the Volvo VNL 860 set to strengthen Highlight Motor Group’s existing fleet, which already consists largely of Volvo trucks. The company follows a strict vehicle refresh cycle of four to five years, ensuring one of the youngest and most modern fleets in the industry.
According to Volvo Trucks, safety and driver comfort were decisive factors behind Highlight Motor Group’s purchase, especially at a time when the trucking industry continues to face challenges in driver recruitment and retention.
“Highlight Motor Group has been a strong long-term partner to Volvo Trucks, and this order is a clear demonstration of their commitment to safety, efficiency, and their drivers,” said Matthew Blackman, Managing Director, Canada, Volvo Trucks North America.
The new Volvo VNL has been engineered specifically for long-haul operations, offering up to a 10 percent improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation. This gain is achieved through enhanced aerodynamics and powertrain upgrades. The truck also incorporates hundreds of design and technology improvements aimed at increasing productivity, profitability, sustainability, and overall driver well-being.
In terms of safety, the Volvo VNL 860 is equipped with advanced systems such as Volvo Active Driver Assist Plus, lane keep support, pedestrian detection, and automated emergency braking, reinforcing Volvo’s long-standing focus on road safety.
Further highlighting its design excellence, the Volvo VNL received the Red Dot Award for Product Design in the commercial vehicles category in 2025.
Volvo Trucks continues to expand its presence globally, supplying medium- and heavy-duty transport solutions through a dealer network spanning 2,200 service points in around 130 countries. In 2024 alone, the company delivered approximately 134,000 trucks worldwide, reaffirming its position as a key player in the global commercial vehicle market.
