Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), the Indian two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, has achieved a major manufacturing milestone with the cumulative production of 10 million motorcycles in India.

SMIPL began operations in February 2006 and reached the 10-million-unit mark in 20 years, reflecting the steady growth of Suzuki’s presence in one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets. The 10 millionth motorcycle produced was the Suzuki ACCESS, one of the brand’s most popular models, known for its everyday riding comfort, reliability, and convenience.

Currently, SMIPL manufactures 13 motorcycle and scooter models, including the ACCESS and GIXXER series, catering to a wide range of customer segments. The Indian subsidiary not only serves the domestic market but also exports motorcycles to ASEAN countries, Latin America, and Europe, making India Suzuki’s largest global motorcycle production hub.

Amid rising demand in the Indian two-wheeler market, SMIPL is constructing a new manufacturing plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, aimed at expanding production capacity in line with market growth.

Commenting on the achievement, Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of SMIPL, said the milestone reflects the trust and support of customers, partners, employees, and stakeholders. He added that the company would continue to strengthen its production capabilities and sales and service network while staying closely connected with customers under Suzuki’s “By Your Side” philosophy.

As of April 2025, SMIPL is headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana, employs around 1,700 people, and reported a production volume of 1.13 million units in FY2024. During the same period, the company recorded sales of over 1.04 million units and exports exceeding 210,000 units.

Among Suzuki’s India-made two-wheelers, the ACCESS remains the top model by cumulative production with 6.82 million units, followed by the Burgman Street, Avenis, and Gixxer series.

The milestone underlines Suzuki’s long-term commitment to India as a key manufacturing and export base, as well as its growing role in supporting mobility needs across global markets.
