Audi has strengthened its premium fast-charging network with the launch of a new Audi charging hub at the EUREF Campus in Düsseldorf, marking the company’s third hub opening in 2025. With this addition, Audi now operates nine charging hubs across German-speaking regions, reinforcing its strategy to support everyday electric mobility with accessible, high-performance charging infrastructure.

The Düsseldorf installation is the brand’s first hub in North Rhine-Westphalia and is located in an innovative district known for its role in Germany’s energy transition. The facility houses four high-power charging (HPC) stations delivering up to 400 kW, accessible to EV drivers of all brands.

A New Push in Customer Experience and Accessibility

Hubert Link, newly appointed to lead Audi’s charging hub initiatives, emphasized elevating customer experience as the program’s core vision. “The Audi charging hub is much more than a charging station. It’s a brand touchpoint designed to offer a premium experience to all EV users,” he said, noting strong customer adoption at existing locations such as Munich-Obersendling.

The Düsseldorf hub integrates several convenience features, including food and beverage services, restrooms, and access to showrooms on the EUREF Campus—an event venue that attracts over 100,000 visitors annually.
To enhance accessibility, Audi has deployed innovative swivel arms that reduce charging cable weight by 60%, along with height-adjustable displays and wide maneuvering spaces that support individuals with physical limitations.

Modular, Sustainable Construction with Second-Life Batteries

Audi continues to rely on its modular hub architecture, enabling quick construction, flexible relocation, and minimal ground impact. Each hub is supported by second-life EV batteries from test vehicles, which serve as buffer storage for stable energy supply.
The Düsseldorf site offers 1.0 MWh of storage capacity—enough to charge around 60 vehicles without grid interruption.

In addition, Audi has introduced a new dynamic electricity procurement model. Using predictive algorithms, the system purchases energy when renewable sources—wind and solar—are most abundant and cost-effective.

Opening Event Highlights

At a two-day launch event held in late November, visitors explored Audi’s charging technologies and participated in test drives of the latest e-tron models. Experts from Audi’s electric mobility and charging divisions provided insights into the company’s charging strategy and future technologies.

Strategic Outlook

Audi plans further expansion of its charging hub network across key German cities in 2026. According to Link, the mission is clear: “We want to make electric mobility convenient and engaging for all user groups and establish the Audi charging hub as a central touchpoint for the brand.”
