Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of the N6 plug-in hybrid sedan through its Chinese joint venture, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company (DFN). Targeted at young families, the N6 marks Nissan’s first PHEV sedan in the Chinese market and debuts the Tianyan Architecture, DFN’s new energy vehicle (NEV) technology platform.
The N6 blends a sleek, aerodynamic design with advanced connectivity features. It is powered by a 1.5-liter engine paired with a 21.1 kWh LFP high-capacity battery. The model will be available in five variants—180 Air, 180 Pro, 180 Max, 180 Max+, and the flagship 170 Max+—priced between 99.9 and 129.9 thousand RMB.
The launch is part of Nissan’s broader strategy to accelerate its NEV lineup in China with products that emphasize innovation, comfort, and high efficiency.
Elegant Design and Premium Cabin
The N6 adopts a refined ‘Wind Trace’ aesthetic, featuring a streamlined profile comparable to C-segment luxury sedans. Slim adaptive headlights, three-dimensional ‘hurricane-eye’ taillights, and six exterior color options—including Sunlight Gold and Hyacinth Purple—enhance its visual appeal.
Inside, the sedan offers a 360-degree wraparound cabin crafted with soft-touch materials covering over 85% of the interior. Nissan introduces AI Zero-Pressure Cloud Cushion seating with posture-adaptive algorithms for front passengers, while the rear features a new Zero-Pressure Cloud Cushion Sofa designed to maximize comfort on long journeys. Customers can choose between Off-White or Elegant Black interiors with Rose Gold or Night Purple accents.
Advanced In-Car Technology
The N6 is powered by Nissan’s Cloud Comfort Cabin system using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775 automotive chip and a 15.6-inch 2.5K display. The Xiao Ni AI voice assistant—powered by iFlytek’s Spark and DeepSeek—supports multiple dialects, seat-independent voice recognition, and even offers wireless karaoke capabilities within the vehicle’s quiet cabin.
The model is equipped with an end-to-end driver assistance system co-developed with Momenta, supporting highway driving, urban conditions, and parking scenarios.
Safety and Efficiency
Safety features include a robust monocoque body, a reinforced battery structure, seven airbags (including two-meter-long side curtain airbags), and 16 active safety systems. The N6 underwent more than 7,400 validation tests, 5,500 prototype inspections, and 2,000 quality checks to ensure reliability.
The sedan gained attention during the Around-China Fuel Consumption Challenge, covering 30 provinces over 14,000 kilometers in 28 days. It recorded a fuel efficiency of 2.9L/100 km and secured a Guinness World Record.
Four New Standards in PHEV Performance
Positioned as a next-generation PHEV, the N6 establishes four key benchmarks in the segment:
- Sub-2L/100 km fuel efficiency in charge-sustaining mode
- 180 km all-electric range, enabled by its 21.1 kWh battery
- Fast charging capability completing a charge in under 20 minutes
- Low ownership cost, with annual expenses maintained within 2,000 RMB
With the N6, Nissan continues strengthening its footprint in China’s competitive NEV market by delivering a blend of design, comfort, performance, and technological innovation.
