Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched a significant initiative to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in the country by introducing a comprehensive digital platform for EV charging. The move aims to address customer concerns regarding charging infrastructure and boost confidence in electric mobility. Central to this effort is the ‘e for me’ mobile app, which seeks to create a unified experience for users under the vision of “One India, One EV Charging platform.”
As part of this initiative, Maruti Suzuki has signed agreements with 13 leading Charge Point Operators and aggregators. This partnership immediately expands access to charging infrastructure, complementing the 2,000-plus exclusive Maruti Suzuki Charging Points already available across its nationwide dealer network. The company has set an ambitious target of establishing over one lakh public charging points across India by 2030, working alongside dealer and CPO partners. These points will be strategically placed to ensure an average distance of 5–10 kilometers between charging stations in key locations across the top 100 cities. DC fast chargers will also be installed at regular intervals along major highways to facilitate long-distance travel.
The ‘e for me’ mobile app forms the core of this ecosystem. It provides a consistent and convenient customer journey for locating, paying for, and using public charging points. Users can also manage smart home chargers through the app. Payment options include UPI or ‘Maruti Suzuki Money,’ powered by Razorpay, making transactions seamless and accessible. In addition, Maruti Suzuki has made its showrooms and over 1,500 service workshops EV-ready. A workforce of 1.5 lakh specially-trained employees is now equipped to support customers and maintain EVs across the country.
To demonstrate the strength and reliability of this new network, the company recently flagged off an ‘e drive’ using four e-VITARA Born EVs, which traveled from Gurugram to the four corners of India: Srinagar, Kanyakumari, Bhuj, and Dibrugarh. The e-VITARA Born, a Made-in-India product tested over one crore kilometers in extreme temperatures ranging from $-30^{\circ}C$ to $60^{\circ}C$, offers a certified driving range of 543 kilometers. This nationwide drive highlights the real-world feasibility of pan-India EV ownership and aims to increase consumer confidence in electric vehicles.
With these efforts, Maruti Suzuki is positioning itself at the forefront of India’s EV transition. By combining a robust digital platform, extensive charging infrastructure, EV-ready service networks, and real-world demonstrations, the company aims to make electric mobility accessible, convenient, and reliable for customers across the country. This initiative represents a significant step towards building a sustainable, India-wide EV ecosystem.
