Audi has announced a sweeping hardware and software update for five key model lines — the A5, Q5, A6, A6 e-tron, and Q6 e-tron — adding enhanced driving dynamics, advanced driver assistance, improved in-car tech, and new comfort features. The update places special emphasis on Audi’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) vehicles, reinforcing the platform’s long-term EV roadmap.
“Audi is enhancing major model series with technologies that show the future strength of both PPE and PPC platforms,” said Geoffrey Bouquot, Audi CTO.
Sharper Dynamics and Smarter Efficiency for e-tron Models
The biggest gains come for electric models. PPE-based EVs such as the A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron now offer upgraded regenerative braking capable of slowing the vehicle all the way to a standstill without friction brakes, improving energy recovery and extending real-world range. Audi has also introduced a new ‘Dynamic Plus’ drive mode for the S6 e-tron, offering rear-biased torque delivery, brake torque vectoring, and controlled oversteer for more emotional handling.
An intelligent Audi drive select assistant has been added to automatically adjust driving modes based on driving style and road conditions.
Advanced Assistance and Autonomous Parking Features
Audi’s updated driver assistance package brings next-level automation:
- Assisted lane change triggered simply by activating the turn indicator.
- Traffic sign recognition that adjusts speed automatically in city environments.
- Enhanced park assist pro with reverse assist (up to 50 meters), maneuver assist, and trained parking that can store and repeat up to five parking routines.
- Garage parking via smartphone without needing to drive past the parking spot.
Digital Matrix LED Headlights Debut on Audi A6
The A6 receives new digital matrix LED headlights featuring micro-LED technology. These offer adaptive high-resolution illumination, lane guidance projections, warnings for icy roads, and a marking light that highlights pedestrians.
Eight selectable light signatures and dynamic welcome/goodbye projections further elevate personalization.
Interior: New Steering Wheel, Enhanced UI, and Deeper Smartphone Integration
All updated models receive a redesigned physical-control steering wheel and a more intuitive user interface inspired by the Audi Q3. The Audi virtual cockpit now supports three display modes. Smartphone apps — navigation, media, and calls — can now be mirrored directly in the virtual cockpit and passenger display.
Smarter Voice Assistant with ChatGPT Integration
The Audi assistant is upgraded with AI-powered capabilities, including natural-language destination search (“the Italian restaurant with a view of the Rhine”), email/calendar access, and voice control for key driver assistance systems. The assistant also learns routines, such as automatically raising the vehicle for curbs or railway crossings.
High-Resolution 4K Dashcam and In-Car Gaming
A new integrated 4K HDR dashcam captures wide-dynamic-range footage, stored locally on an SD card. In-car entertainment also gets a boost: Bluetooth-enabled game controllers and headphones can now connect directly to the system, supporting games such as Asphalt Legends and Queen Rock Tour.
EV models additionally receive Power Nap mode, optimizing sound, lighting, and climate control for rest periods during charging.
