Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd., one of India’s leading EV charger manufacturers and renewable energy technology providers, has been granted a patent by the Indian Patent Office for its latest innovation titled “System and Method for Charging an Electric Vehicle.” The breakthrough promises to significantly reshape India’s EV charging ecosystem by solving a long-standing interoperability challenge.

The patented technology enables GBT-standard electric vehicles to charge seamlessly using CCS2 DC fast chargers, which are rapidly becoming the national standard for EVs. Even as the charging network transitions to CCS2, a large segment of India’s older EV fleet—particularly buses and commercial cabs—continues to rely on GBT connectors.

Servotech’s solution functions as a smart converter, allowing GBT vehicles to plug into CCS2 fast chargers safely and efficiently. This ensures better utilization of existing charging infrastructure while preventing legacy vehicle owners from being excluded during the shift to newer technologies.

The system has already completed successful trials on GB/T-enabled electric buses and commercial EV cabs, showcasing strong performance and reliability. The company is now exploring large-scale deployment with fleet operators, public transport agencies, and commercial charging hubs.

“Receiving this patent is a proud milestone for Servotech,” said Arun Handa, Chief Technical Officer, Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd. “This innovation directly addresses India’s charging compatibility gaps and paves the way for a unified, efficient EV ecosystem. Our ongoing investment in next-generation charging solutions is aimed at making electric mobility smarter, more inclusive, and future-ready.”

The patented technology is expected to play a key role in accelerating India’s EV adoption and maximizing the utility of nationwide charging infrastructure.
