Global tire manufacturer Continental has secured original equipment approval for its PremiumContact C tires on the newly launched Hyundai IONIQ 9, further strengthening its presence in the fast-growing electric SUV segment.

The all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 9 will roll off the production line fitted with Continental’s 21-inch PremiumContact C (285/45 R21 113 V XL FR) tires, engineered to support the high load demands and instant torque characteristics of large electric vehicles.

Designed specifically for heavy SUVs and crossover EVs, the PremiumContact C enhances safety, driving comfort, and efficiency in warmer seasons. The tire’s reinforced, more robust structure offers higher load-bearing capacity, making it suitable for the IONIQ 9’s substantial battery weight. Its adaptive sipe technology ensures precise handling in both dry and wet conditions, even under full load.

A key highlight is Continental’s ContiSilent technology — a polyurethane foam layer inside the tire that reduces interior cabin noise by up to nine decibels, a significant advantage for EVs where the absence of engine noise makes road noise more noticeable. The extended contact patch also contributes to reduced rolling noise, improved ground pressure distribution, and shorter braking distances.

Continental said these features make the PremiumContact C a strong match for the Hyundai IONIQ 9, enhancing the EV’s quiet, smooth, and efficient driving experience.
