Toyota Motor Corporation has officially premiered the next-generation Toyota Hilux, marking a major step toward its vision of carbon neutrality. The global debut, held in Bangkok by Toyota Motor Asia, introduced the new Hilux lineup featuring battery electric (BEV), diesel, and fuel cell electric (FCEV) models—underscoring Toyota’s multi-pathway approach to sustainable mobility.
The Hilux BEV prototype, showcased at the event, features a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery delivering a cruising range exceeding 300 km, supported by high-output front and rear eAxles that produce a combined system output of 144 kW. The battery is installed under the frame floor to enhance stability and off-road capability while maintaining full cabin space.
The BEV variant will launch in Asian markets beginning 2026, with Japan-bound diesel versions scheduled for mid-2026. Meanwhile, the Hilux FCEV (hydrogen fuel cell) version is planned for rollout in Europe and Oceania by 2028.
Speaking at the event, Simon Humphries, Toyota’s Chief Branding Officer, highlighted Thailand’s six-decade partnership with Toyota, describing the country as the “heart of the Hilux story” and “a hub of production, innovation, and friendship.” Humphries emphasized that Toyota’s success in Thailand embodies its “Best in Town” philosophy—developing vehicles rooted in local needs with global impact.
“Each generation of Hilux has evolved by listening to our customers—from miners demanding toughness to families seeking comfort and safety,” Humphries said. “Our new Hilux reflects that legacy while driving us toward a carbon-neutral future through a diversity of powertrains.”
Adding a touch of cultural exchange, legendary sumo champion Hakuho Sho joined the launch event as Toyota’s ambassador, symbolizing the deep cultural and human connections that underpin Toyota’s international collaborations.
The event also reinforced Toyota’s “Beyond Zero” vision—an initiative to go beyond reducing emissions and create greater societal value through innovation and inclusivity.
As part of its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) commitment, Toyota continues to expand electrified mobility solutions worldwide, promoting cleaner energy, industrial innovation, and sustainable infrastructure.
With the new Hilux leading the charge, Toyota reaffirms its mission to deliver mobility for all—combining strength, reliability, and environmental responsibility to drive a better future.
