In a landmark development poised to redefine India’s electric mobility landscape, ThunderPlus, the country’s fastest-growing EV charging company, and Trinity Cleantech have jointly launched the world’s first mobile, ethanol-based 150 kW DC fast charger-cum-generator — the ME Energy Rapid Charger 150.
The innovation marks a major step toward a grid-independent, self-reliant, and sustainable EV ecosystem, directly supporting the government’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision. Unlike traditional DC chargers that require heavy infrastructure, long DISCOM approvals, and costly grid connections, the Rapid Charger 150 can be deployed anywhere and made fully operational within 72 hours — completely independent of the power grid.
Powered entirely by ethanol, a renewable biofuel derived from agricultural produce, the system cuts CO₂ emissions by up to 80% compared to diesel-based generators and reduces both setup time and operational costs by over 50%.
Rajeev YSR, Director & CEO of ThunderPlus, said, ThunderPlus has always been at the forefront of solving India’s charger-anxiety problem. With the ethanol-based Rapid Charger 150, we’re cutting diesel dependence and offering a cleaner, instantly deployable charging solution. We proudly call it ‘Liquid Electricity.
The product was officially unveiled by Sri Mahesh Babu, Managing Director of Olectra Green Tech Ltd., who hailed it as a transformative milestone for India’s EV industry. This will revolutionize the ecosystem by cutting high capex, long wait times, and infrastructure bottlenecks while reducing dependence on fossil fuels, he said. It’s an ideal solution for fleet operators, bus depots, and roadside assistance applications.
Raj Kumar, Executive Director of Trinity Cleantech Pvt. Ltd., emphasized the product’s global pedigree: The ME Energy Rapid Charger 150 is manufactured by Trinity Cleantech under a patented technology license from ME Energy GmbH, Germany. It offers a scalable, economical, and fast deployment path for companies focused on decarbonizing operations.
Inspired by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s advocacy for ethanol as a clean biofuel, the innovation aligns with India’s roadmap for integrating bio-fuels with EV technology. The launch event saw participation from key figures in the clean-mobility sector, including Shri Chandramouli Vemula from SIDBI, who lauded the charger for advancing green finance and sustainable transport goals.
The Rapid Charger 150 opens new frontiers for India’s EV future — enabling off-grid charging at highways, remote depots, logistics hubs, and backup for electric buses, besides offering green power for construction, mining, and residential applications where grid connectivity is limited.
With over 250 charging hubs, 1,000+ chargers, and a presence across 16 states and 60 cities, ThunderPlus continues to strengthen its position as an integrated EV infrastructure provider serving leading OEMs including Tata Motors, Olectra, Mahindra, and Ather.
By integrating biofuel technology with advanced charging infrastructure, ThunderPlus and Trinity Cleantech have delivered not just a product, but a blueprint for India’s energy independence — replacing diesel with ethanol, delay with speed, and dependence with innovation.
