LeafyBus, a New Delhi-based intercity electric bus operator, has initiated discussions with Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Shri Daya Shankar Singh to explore a partnership aimed at expanding electric bus services across key regions of the state.

The talks focused on boosting adoption of electric buses and enhancing intercity transport connectivity in Uttar Pradesh. Both sides are expected to continue strategic consultations in the coming days, with agreements likely to be finalized soon.

The Uttar Pradesh government has been at the forefront of promoting clean mobility, offering incentives for EV operators, strengthening charging infrastructure, and framing policies to encourage sustainable transport solutions. These measures are part of the state’s broader vision to reduce fuel dependence, cut emissions, and build a resilient framework for eco-friendly mobility.

Highlighting the importance of government-industry collaboration, Rohan Dewan, Co-Founder of LeafyBus, said:
“Our discussions with Shri Daya Shankar Singh Ji and the UP Transport Ministry are an important step in expanding electric bus services across the state. Partnerships with governments are vital for scaling EV adoption and improving transport infrastructure. Electric buses are not just about replacing diesel vehicles but about building a new model of intercity travel that is cleaner, safer, and cost-efficient for passengers.”

LeafyBus, which recently secured USD 4.1 million funding from Enetra India Pvt. Ltd., backed by Singapore’s Impact Capital Asia Management (ICAM), is currently India’s only operator of long-distance electric buses. The company runs three daily trips on the Delhi–Dehradun corridor, covering 900 km per day, supported by the country’s first 360 kW fast-charging station.

As part of its expansion roadmap, LeafyBus aims to grow its fleet from 10 to over 100 buses within two years. The company is also exploring high-demand intercity routes such as Agra, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Patna to strengthen India’s electric mobility network.
