Continental has received original equipment approval from General Motors (GM) to equip its all-weather touring tire CrossContact RX on two of the automaker’s latest electric SUVs — the Cadillac OPTIQ and the Chevrolet Equinox EV.
The CrossContact RX, available in 20- and 21-inch sizes, is designed to deliver quiet and comfortable driving, excellent rolling resistance, and superior braking performance. The tires also feature ContiSeal technology, which automatically seals punctures of up to 6 mm in diameter, allowing drivers to continue their journey without interruption.
Continental emphasized that the tire’s tread pattern and contour design ensure low rolling resistance and improved traction across varying conditions, including light snow and wet roads. Its uniform sipe arrangement further reduces rolling noise, enhancing ride comfort — a key expectation in electric vehicle performance.
The approval covers the following specifications for global markets:
- CrossContact RX, 275/40 R21 107H XL FR ContiSeal
- CrossContact RX, 245/50 R20 105H XL FR ContiSeal
Continental’s developers noted that the CrossContact RX represents the company’s commitment to innovation in EV mobility, offering drivers not just performance but also resilience through built-in puncture protection.
This latest partnership strengthens Continental’s role as a trusted supplier in the electric mobility segment, as GM accelerates production of its next-generation EV lineup.
