Indofast Energy, India’s leading battery-swapping solutions provider, has commissioned its 1000th battery swap station, marking the country’s fastest rollout of such an extensive EV charging infrastructure network. The milestone station, inaugurated at Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Railway Station, underscores the company’s strategic vision and operational excellence in accelerating India’s transition to electric mobility.

With this achievement, Indofast’s extensive network now spans 10 states and 22 cities, covering critical mobility hubs across the country. Delhi NCR leads with 332 swap stations, followed by Bengaluru with 259 and Hyderabad with 124. The infrastructure has facilitated more than 39 million battery swaps, powering over 50,000 electric vehicles to travel a cumulative 1.06 billion kilometres—equivalent to circling the Earth 26,000 times—while avoiding nearly 55,000 metric tonnes of tailpipe CO₂ emissions.

Speaking at a 100-km ‘Swap Parade’ organized in Bengaluru on World EV Day to mark the milestone, Indofast Energy CEO Anant Badjatya said:
“Setting up 1000 swap stations is not just a milestone to us – it represents our commitment to making electric mobility accessible, affordable, practical and eco-friendly. Our Battery-as-a-Service model has eliminated the twin barriers of range anxiety and charging time, ensuring that swappable EVs become the most convenient and economical choice for everyday Indians.”

Indofast’s two-minute battery swap service has proven transformative for the gig economy, particularly last-mile delivery. Two-wheelers dominate the swaps, followed by three-wheelers and commercial light vehicles, enabling riders and fleet operators to minimize downtime and reduce operating costs. The network currently supports nearly 78,000 livelihoods, driving adoption in B2B delivery fleets and encouraging individual riders to purchase their own EVs.

The company’s rapid growth has been fueled by collaborations with vehicle partners such as Zypp, Omega Seiki Mobility, Shadowfax, Rapido, and Triev, alongside infrastructure partners including IOCL, Indian Railways, BESCOM, BRPL, MMRC, and HMR. These partnerships have created jobs, empowered gig workers, and accelerated the shift toward cleaner, more cost-effective mobility solutions nationwide.

With its milestone achievement, Indofast Energy has not only set a benchmark in EV infrastructure deployment but also strengthened its role as a key enabler of India’s electric mobility revolution.
