Suzuki Motor Corporation has fully acquired RT.Works Co., Ltd., making the Osaka-based life-support robotics company a wholly owned subsidiary. The move is aimed at accelerating Suzuki’s capabilities in electric mobility and expanding solutions that support customers’ freedom of movement.

Suzuki, which introduced its first Senior Car in 1985, has steadily advanced in the field of compact electric mobility. Its partnership with RT.Works began with joint development of assistive technologies and has now evolved into a complete integration, aligning with both companies’ shared vision of enhancing daily life through technology.

RT.Works holds the top domestic market share in electric assist walkers and gained international recognition with the launch of the world’s first non-wearable walking assist robot, RT.1, in 2015. The company’s expertise in life-support robots complements Suzuki’s broader mobility portfolio, which spans automobiles, motorcycles, and marine products.

Under its mid-term management plan “By Your Side,” Suzuki envisions becoming “infrastructure mobility closely connected to customers’ lives.” By combining RT.Works’ innovations in robot-assisted walking with Suzuki’s nationwide reach, the partnership aims to expand customer mobility options, particularly for seniors and individuals seeking independence in daily movement.

RT.Works President Hitoshi Fujii welcomed the acquisition:
“Joining the Suzuki Group allows us to amplify our mission of bringing robot technology closer to people. Together, we can generate synergies that support enriched lives and social development.”

Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzuki highlighted the growing importance of assistive technologies:
“Electric assist walkers offer a valuable choice for those who want to continue walking independently. With RT.Works, we will expand mobility solutions and strengthen our commitment to being by our customers’ side in daily life.”

The acquisition marks a significant step in Suzuki’s expansion beyond traditional mobility products, reinforcing its role as a leader in future-ready, customer-centric mobility infrastructure.
