Audi has officially kicked off its new product initiative in China with the launch of both fully electric and advanced combustion-engine models, designed exclusively for the world’s largest automotive market.

At a launch event in Hangzhou, Audi introduced the Q6L e-tron and Q6L Sportback e-tron, the first China-specific electric models built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture. These vehicles, produced at the newly established Audi FAW NEV Company plant in Changchun, feature extended wheelbases and China-tailored infotainment systems, delivering enhanced range, charging performance, and efficiency.

Alongside its EV rollout, Audi also debuted two new combustion models — the A5L (developed with FAW) and A5L Sportback (with SAIC) — built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). Both variants bring a blend of sporty driving dynamics, improved efficiency, and advanced driver assistance features to the Chinese market. Notably, the A5L Sportback has been commercially available since August 1.

The initiative marks a significant step in Audi’s China strategy, combining localized electric innovation with next-generation combustion technology to meet diverse customer demands. The company also previewed the A6L e-tron, another PPE-based model, earlier this year at Auto Shanghai 2025.

With these launches, Audi reinforces its long-term commitment to China, partnering with FAW and SAIC to expand both electric and combustion portfolios while addressing the unique preferences of Chinese consumers.
