The BMW Group is ushering in a transformative era in mobility with the world premiere of the all-new BMW iX3, the first model from its highly anticipated Neue Klasse architecture. As the headline act of IAA Mobility 2025, held from 9–14 September across Munich, the BMW iX3 showcases revolutionary advances in electric mobility, design, digitalisation, and sustainability.

A Milestone for the BMW Group

Celebrating its world premiere in BMW’s hometown of Munich, the BMW iX3 represents a historic leap forward. Positioned as the first of a new generation of vehicles, the iX3 is infused with cutting-edge innovations in e-mobility, control systems, panoramic display technology, and bidirectional charging. The vehicle embodies the brand’s commitment to climate-conscious design and circularity, setting new standards across the industry.

IAA Mobility 2025 – A City-Wide Showcase

For this year’s IAA Mobility, BMW Group is transforming Munich into a stage of mobility. Key locations include the BMW Group Open Space at Max-Joseph-Platz, free to the public, and the BMW stand at Messe München’s Hall A1, aimed at trade professionals.

In the heart of Munich, the Open Space (3,000 m²) will host daily Masterclasses, demos of the new Panoramic iDrive, and family-friendly activities including LEGO areas and Disney+ entertainment. Meanwhile, BMW Welt and the BMW Museum will support the event with thematic exhibitions, including the launch of a new High-Power Charging Hub and the digital BMW Museum DigiTour experience.

Bidirectional Charging: Powering Homes and Grids

Among the standout technological features of the iX3 is bidirectional charging, introduced at IAA for the first time. The system allows vehicle owners to return energy from their car to their home power supply (V2H) or even back to the public grid (V2G), heralding a smarter, more integrated energy future.

MINI and BMW Motorrad Make Their Mark

MINI is seizing the spotlight with the world debut of two John Cooper Works (JCW) show cars at Lenbachplatz, celebrating its performance DNA and “Britishness” in style. The MINI Pavilion has been refurbished for the occasion, turning into a stage for motorsport-inspired design and lifestyle innovation.

On the two-wheel front, BMW Motorrad presents the BMW CE 02 and CE 04 electric scooters, along with a look ahead at the BMW Vision CE, a concept envisioning future urban e-mobility.

Heritage Meets Future: The 1961 Neue Klasse Returns

BMW Classic adds historical depth with a display of the BMW 1500, the original Neue Klasse model that reshaped BMW’s destiny at the 1961 IAA. Now, over six decades later, the iX3 carries the Neue Klasse name into the electric future, completing a full-circle journey of innovation.

Charging Forward with Sustainability

Sustainability and circular economy principles are embedded in every aspect of BMW Group’s IAA presentation. At Max-Joseph-Platz, 80% of installations are reusable or rented, reflecting BMW’s commitment to resource-efficient event planning. The Summit stand at Messe München furthers this vision with exhibits on sixth-gen eDrive technology, alternative fuels, fuel cells, and advanced software architecture.

BMW Welt Introduces New High-Power Charging Station

Coinciding with IAA, BMW Welt unveils its new High-Power Charging station, designed by BMW’s innovation studio, Designworks. The hub features eight charging points and is fully integrated into BMW Welt’s iconic architecture. Visitors can enjoy expert talks, tours, and complimentary refreshments while charging their vehicles.

The BMW Group’s Vision

With over 2.45 million vehicles sold in 2024 and a growing focus on digital and electric mobility, the BMW Group is cementing its position as the global leader in premium automotive innovation. As CEO Oliver Zipse previously stated, the Neue Klasse is “a quantum leap” that embodies the future of BMW across all product lines and technologies.
