In a landmark development for Dubai’s public transport sector, Volvo Buses, in partnership with Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company (FAMCO), has secured a major contract from Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) for the delivery of 76 state-of-the-art Volvo B13RLE double-decker buses. The deal marks the debut of the advanced Euro 6 Volvo B13R chassis in the emirate and reinforces Volvo’s continued commitment to shaping sustainable urban mobility in the Middle East.
Scheduled for delivery in 2026, the double-decker buses will be manufactured with lightweight aluminium bodies by Gemilang Coachworks, known for their expertise in building premium passenger transport solutions. This order includes a 10-year comprehensive maintenance agreement to ensure long-term operational efficiency and uptime of RTA’s expanding fleet.
Each bus will come equipped with cutting-edge Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), offering features such as real-time vehicle tracking, automated passenger updates, predictive maintenance capabilities, and traffic management integration. With a completely redesigned interior and exterior, the buses promise to enhance driver ergonomics, passenger comfort, safety, and overall travel experience.
