Škoda Auto has crossed a major manufacturing milestone in India with the production of 500,000 cars from its state-of-the-art facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The milestone not only highlights the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian market but also underlines India’s growing importance in Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. (SAVWIPL)’s global operations.

The milestone comes as Škoda Auto celebrates 25 years in India and its 130th global anniversary. Since rolling out its first Octavia model from the Aurangabad (now Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar) plant in 2001, Škoda has steadily expanded its portfolio and brand presence. Iconic models like the Octavia, Laura, and Superb have been joined by new-age favourites such as the Kushaq, Slavia, and the latest sub-4-meter offering, the Kylaq.

Approximately 70% of the 500,000 units were produced at the Pune facility, while the rest came from the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant. This achievement also coincides with the company’s record-breaking performance in March 2025, when it registered its highest-ever monthly sales in India by delivering 7,422 units.

Škoda Auto’s India-manufactured cars are not just for domestic roads. The company’s production prowess is now powering its global ambitions. Parts and components from India are being used at Škoda’s newly opened plant in Vietnam, where models like the Kushaq and Slavia will be assembled, reinforcing India’s role as a strategic export hub aligned with the “Make in India for the World” vision.

Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto a.s. Board Member for Production and Logistics, said, “Reaching the milestone of 500,000 cars produced in India is a proud testament to our strategic vision of unwavering commitment to India and operational excellence.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Piyush Arora, CEO & Managing Director, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, stated, “It is not just about manufacturing 500,000 cars, but building and nurturing 500,000 connections. Every car that rolls out of our production lines shares the DNA of European engineering, delivering unmatched quality, safety, and driving dynamics.”

As Škoda continues to strengthen its local manufacturing and export capabilities, this milestone reaffirms India’s central role in the brand’s global journey — a blend of engineering precision, local talent, and customer trust.
