In a major push towards green mobility, Servotech Renewable Power System Limited has secured a landmark order from Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) to install an ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging hub at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
The state-of-the-art station will feature 10 ultra-fast DC EV chargers, each with a capacity of 240 kW, amounting to a total installed capacity of 2.4 MW. This marks the first and largest airside EV charging hub of its kind at any Indian airport and is set to significantly enhance the airport’s e-transport operational efficiency.
Strategically located within the airport premises, the charging station will primarily serve electric buses responsible for transporting passengers between terminals and aircraft, enabling 24/7 airside EV operations. This initiative is expected to substantially reduce the airport’s transportation-related carbon emissions, aligning with Karnataka’s vision to become a carbon-negative state.
As part of the project, Servotech will handle the supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and five-year maintenance of the charging station. The company aims to ensure seamless and energy-efficient operation to support the airport’s transition toward clean energy.
Sarika Bhatia, Director of Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd., expressed her enthusiasm, stating,
We are thrilled to work with Bengaluru International Airport in its mission to drive sustainable change. This project is more than just an infrastructure milestone – it’s a step toward transforming urban transport at one of India’s busiest airports.
Bhatia added that Servotech’s collaboration with BIAL is a natural extension of the company’s work with oil marketing companies and public EV charging projects across India.
We’re proud to bring our advanced EV charging technology to such a significant project and look forward to expanding our impact across different sectors,” she said.
