In a groundbreaking collaboration poised to transform the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience, Hubject, a global leader in EV interoperability, has partnered with Tritium, a pioneer in DC fast charging technology, to bring Plug&Charge functionality to Tritium’s charging infrastructure worldwide.
The strategic alliance aims to eliminate the hassle of RFID cards, mobile apps, and manual authentication. Instead, drivers will soon enjoy automated, secure, and seamless charging, making electric vehicle use as convenient as filling a gas tank.
Plug&Charge Goes Global
The partnership integrates Hubject’s ISO15118-compliant Plug&Charge platform with Tritium’s fast-charging hardware, enabling:
- Instant authentication between EVs and chargers without human intervention
- Secure communication protocols for charging session validation and billing
- Minimal-effort integration for Charge Point Operators (CPOs) to enable Plug&Charge across networks
The rollout begins with select markets in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific, followed by a global expansion. Tritium also plans to retrofit Plug&Charge functionality into selected existing chargers, extending its benefits to current EV infrastructure.
