Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has officially launched the all-new, third-generation Nissan LEAF, marking a major leap in the evolution of one of the world’s best-selling electric vehicles. Building on more than 15 years of real-world experience and nearly 700,000 global unit sales, the redesigned LEAF aims to attract both electric vehicle enthusiasts and internal combustion engine (ICE) buyers with increased range, faster charging, and cutting-edge features.
Set to arrive at U.S. dealerships by autumn 2025 and other regions thereafter, the all-new LEAF showcases Nissan’s “Timeless Japanese Futurism” design language. A standout feature is the geometric “ni-san” motif—symbolizing the brand’s name—present across both exterior and interior elements.
“The Nissan LEAF reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability,” said Ivan Espinosa, Nissan President and CEO. “This generation invites consumers to embrace an EV lifestyle with a range of compelling features and plays an important role in our Re:Nissan action plan.”
Performance & Powertrain
Offered with two liquid-cooled battery configurations—52 kWh and 75 kWh—the LEAF can deliver up to 303 miles of range in U.S. trims featuring the larger battery. Power output reaches up to 160 kW and 355 Nm of torque. An all-new 3-in-1 EV powertrain is 10% more compact than before, reducing vibration by 75% for a smoother driving experience.
Charging is faster and more flexible, with 10–80% fast charging in just 35 minutes using a 150 kW DC charger. U.S. and Canadian buyers will benefit from a North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector, enabling access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Design & Interior Innovation
Aerodynamic touches, including flush door handles, a flat underbody, and a drag coefficient as low as 0.25, enhance both performance and aesthetics. At the front, a lightbar and evolved V-motion fascia provide a futuristic look, complemented by 3D holographic taillamps at the rear.
Inside, the cabin features a near-flat floor and a floating horizontal instrument panel. Depending on the trim, buyers can choose between dual 12.3-inch or 14.3-inch integrated displays, along with Bose® Personal® Plus audio, and a Nissan-first Dimming Panoramic Roof using Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology for natural lighting and comfort.
Smart Tech & Lifestyle Enhancements
For enhanced everyday utility, the LEAF features a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance systems including 3D Intelligent Around View® Monitor, Invisible Hood View, and Intelligent Distance Control Assist.
The vehicle offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability with 1500W output through two 120V outlets (U.S. only), ideal for camping or outdoor activities. Additionally, Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionalities will be available in Japan and Europe respectively, allowing users to feed energy back into their homes or the power grid.
Global Production and Availability
The new LEAF will be manufactured at Nissan’s Tochigi Plant in Japan and the Sunderland facility in the UK, reinforcing the company’s global EV strategy.
