Iberdrola España and the Community of Madrid are deepening their commitment to electric mobility with the launch of one of Spain’s largest EV charging stations—Madrid’s largest in fast charging—in Leganés. The hub features 47 charging points, including 15 ultra-fast chargers capable of delivering 80% battery charge in under 15 minutes or 200 kilometres of range in just five minutes, along with 10 fast chargers and 22 semi-fast chargers.

Located strategically near Leganés, Getafe, Fuenlabrada, and Alcorcón, and close to the Parque Polvoranca train station and major motorways (M-406, M-407, M-409, and M-50), the facility spans 1,260 square metres and serves an area of influence covering around 750,000 residents. Built within the established Arroyo Culebro residential area, it marks the second public land charging hub operated by Iberdrola España under a lease agreement with Planifica Madrid.

Iberdrola España is responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the station, which is equipped with solar panels to power both the facility and nearby households or businesses—up to 100—with renewable energy. The charging options include eight 350kW and seven 240kW ultra-fast chargers, ten 60kW fast chargers, and 22 semi-fast 22kW chargers, allowing users to select charging based on parking duration. The initiative is part of Spain’s MOVES Singular Projects II Programme, funded by the European Union to promote sustainable mobility.

Antonio Armengot, Iberdrola Clientes representative in Madrid, stated that ‘electric mobility requires public–private partnerships to advance in residents’ well-being and contribute to improving air quality in cities and their sustainable development. At Iberdrola España we were pioneers in our commitment to electric mobility and today we are leaders in public charging with more than 9,500 points in operation located on major roads and cities, as well as in small towns and back roads’.
