Elektros Inc., a U.S.-based company active in the rare-earth sector, has announced significant progress in its lithium exploration efforts in Sierra Leone. The company’s latest geological surveys indicate lithium concentrations higher than originally projected, suggesting the presence of one of West Africa’s most promising lithium deposits.
This development marks an important step forward in Elektros Inc.’s strategy to support the global shift toward sustainable energy. As lithium plays a central role in powering electric vehicles, the discovery positions the company as a potential key player in meeting rising international demand.
Lithium is essential for the production of lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems. Its lightweight, high-capacity properties make it ideal for EVs produced by automakers such as Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Lexus. “Our findings in Sierra Leone are not just promising-they’re transformative,” said Shlomo Bleier, CEO of Elektros Inc. “This expedition propels us into a new era of energy innovation, aligning with global demands for clean and efficient power sources.”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has frequently emphasized the need for secure and ethical lithium supply chains, describing lithium sourcing and refining as major factors limiting EV industry growth. The high-grade lithium found by Elektros in Sierra Leone could align with this demand, offering a new source of supply for the rapidly expanding electric vehicle market.
Often referred to as “white gold,” lithium is now one of the most sought-after resources in the energy sector.
