Global electric vehicle (EV) charging network developer V-GREEN has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with four strategic partners to install approximately 63,999 EV charging ports exclusively for VinFast vehicles throughout Indonesia by the end of 2025—more than doubling its original deployment target.
This ambitious initiative—launched in collaboration with Chargecore, Chargepoint, Amarta Group, and CVS—reflects V-GREEN’s mission to accelerate green mobility infrastructure across Southeast Asia. With a total investment of $300 million, the project will significantly enhance Indonesia’s EV charging capacity and strengthen VinFast’s ecosystem in one of the region’s most promising markets.
The charging network rollout will prioritize key regions, including Jabodetabek (Jakarta Metropolitan Area), Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, Medan, Batam, Bali, and Kalimantan. The development is set to begin in May 2025, with the first stations going live in June.
Strategic Investment Breakdown
Under the agreement:
- Chargecore alone will invest at least $30 million in 2025.
- Chargepoint, Amarta Group, and CVS will each contribute $5.3 million annually as official distributors.
- V-GREEN will directly finance 20% of the stations, while the rest will be established through business cooperation contracts (BCCs) with local investors.
- V-GREEN is offering lucrative incentives, including a power purchase rate of 750 rupiah/kWh and a guaranteed annual return of up to 25% for the first three years, making the venture highly attractive for both domestic and international stakeholders.
A Vision for Green Growth
Mr. Mai Truong Giang, Managing Director of V-GREEN Indonesia, emphasized: “These partnerships are a milestone in our regional strategy. Together with our partners, we’re building a future-ready EV charging network that supports Indonesia’s shift toward sustainable mobility.”
Mr. John Yan, CEO of Chargecore, expressed enthusiasm about the venture: “This alliance reflects a shared vision to transform Indonesia’s transportation landscape. V-GREEN’s roadmap and strategic clarity give us strong confidence in this collaboration’s impact and profitability.”
Mr. Daniel Nguyen, CEO of Chargepoint, added: “Indonesia is a key gateway for green mobility in Southeast Asia. This partnership allows us to extend VinFast’s EV vision beyond Vietnam, reinforcing our commitment as a regional leader in clean transportation solutions.”
Building Southeast Asia’s Green EV Infrastructure
Founded by VinFast’s Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, V-GREEN has rapidly become Vietnam’s largest EV charging network operator with over 150,000 ports. The company’s Indonesian expansion signifies a pivotal step in its global growth strategy.
As part of its immediate plans, V-GREEN aims to operate 50,000 charging stations and nearly 64,000 ports across Indonesia by the end of next year. To encourage early adoption, 1,000 charging stations will begin offering free charging for VinFast owners starting May 2025.
This monumental move positions V-GREEN not only as a key infrastructure developer but also as a catalyst in Indonesia’s and Southeast Asia’s transition to sustainable mobility.
