Mayor Wes Gatchalian proudly spearheaded the launch of 41 electric vehicles and 22 strategically located charging stations to modernize the city government’s transportation system and promote sustainable governance.

Of the new fleet, 35 electric vehicles have been assigned to the Valenzuela City Police, while 6 electric vehicles will be used by various city government offices.
Valenzuela now holds the distinction of being the first local government unit (LGU) in the Philippines to operate such a large electric police fleet.

“This bold step not only enhances our mobility, visibility, and public safety but also significantly reduces fuel and maintenance costs,” Mayor Gatchalian said during the launch.
“The savings generated will be redirected towards strengthening healthcare and education services for our residents.”

Mayor Gatchalian, a consistent advocate for clean transportation, emphasized that electric vehicles (EVs) offer multiple benefits — from providing an eco-friendly alternative to creating new job opportunities and ensuring cost savings.

The project is a result of a partnership between the Valenzuela City Government, BYD Cars Philippines, and ACMobility, reinforcing the city’s commitment to innovation and environmental leadership.

With this move, Valenzuela cements its reputation as a national trailblazer in sustainable governance, setting an inspiring example for other cities across the country.
