In a bold showcase of innovation and electrification, Nissan unveiled two cutting-edge New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) at Auto Shanghai 2025 — the all-new Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid pickup truck and the Dongfeng Nissan N7 electric sedan. These launches mark the next step in Nissan’s strategic rollout of nine NEVs for China by mid-2027.
Both models underscore Nissan’s ambition to reshape its China lineup with high-tech, design-forward vehicles that appeal to both family users and driving enthusiasts in the world’s largest EV market.
Frontier Pro: Nissan’s First Electrified Pickup Truck
Making its global debut, the Frontier Pro is Nissan’s first-ever plug-in hybrid pickup and electrified truck. Targeted at urban families and adventure-seekers, it blends ruggedness with advanced technology.
Powertrain & Performance:
Under the hood, a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine works alongside a high-output electric motor mounted in the transmission. Together, they produce over 300kW of combined power and 800Nm of torque, delivering robust performance and smooth efficiency. It offers up to 135km of EV-only range, making it ideal for city commutes and weekend getaways.
Design & Features:
Styled with a “Rugged Tech” philosophy, the Frontier Pro features a bold, illuminated Nissan logo, distinctive LED elements inspired by the iconic 1980s D21 hardbody pickup, and rides on standard 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin is modern and practical, featuring a panoramic sunroof, a 14.6-inch infotainment display, 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and luxurious seating options with heating, ventilation, and massage functions.
The Frontier Pro also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) power delivery, offering up to 6kW for charging tools or appliances, perfect for work or play.
Driving Dynamics:
Equipped with a 5-link rear suspension and Intelligent AWD, it includes an electromechanical rear differential lock and four versatile drive modes: Hybrid, EV, Performance, and Snow — ensuring confidence in all terrains.
Set for release later this year, the Frontier Pro will be built in partnership with Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA) and exported to international markets, with countries to be confirmed at a later date.
Dongfeng Nissan N7: A Tech-Infused Electric Sedan
Also turning heads at the expo is the Dongfeng Nissan N7, a sleek, all-electric sedan that blends aerodynamic elegance with smart mobility. Just five months after its debut, the N7 is set to go on sale in China this month.
Design & Aerodynamics:
With a drag coefficient of just 0.208, the N7 boasts futuristic touches like frameless doors, flush handles, and customizable light signatures using 882 OLED rear and 710 LED front elements. Buyers can choose from six nature-inspired exterior colors and two refined interior trims.
Power & Range:
Powered by a single front-mounted motor, output ranges from 160kW to 200kW with 305Nm of torque. Battery options include 58kWh and 73kWh LFP packs, delivering a range between 510km and 635km. Rapid charging from 10% to 80% is possible in just 19 minutes.
Tech-Packed Interior:
Inside, the N7 is a rolling tech haven:
- 15.6-inch 2.5K infotainment screen
- Snapdragon™ 8295P processor
- AI-based DeepSeek-R1 integration
- Zero-pressure, sensor-driven posture seats with 12-point massage
