Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) unveiled the all-new 2026 Subaru Solterra EV today at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, marking a significant leap forward in electric SUV performance, capability, and comfort. The updated all-electric SUV now boasts a more powerful dual-motor system, a longer range, and advanced in-cabin and driver-assist technologies, reaffirming Subaru’s commitment to EV innovation.

First introduced in 2023, the new Solterra arrives with a 77.0-kWh lithium-ion battery, offering an estimated range of approximately 450 km—an impressive 25% increase over its predecessor. With fast-charging capability (DCFC 10–80% in 35 minutes*) and a new battery preconditioning system, the 2026 model is engineered to perform reliably even in harsh weather conditions.

Power Meets Precision

Underpinning the Solterra is Subaru’s iconic Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, now upgraded with independent front and rear motors delivering a combined 338 horsepower—a staggering 57% power increase over the previous model. The SUV accelerates from 0–100 km/h in under 5 seconds, putting it among the top performers in its class.

Off-road, the Solterra’s rugged DNA shines through with X-MODE’s dual-mode Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud capabilities, 210 mm of ground clearance, and enhanced traction control systems, offering true Subaru trail-ready versatility in an electric package.

Technology at the Forefront

Taking centre stage inside is a newly introduced 14-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, giving drivers intuitive control over media, navigation, and vehicle functions. Wireless 15W smartphone charging, rear USB-C ports, and a panoramic view monitor enhance passenger convenience and safety.

Subaru’s renowned EyeSight suite receives a major upgrade, now offering advanced features like Pre-Collision Braking, Traffic Jam Assist, Emergency Stop Assist, and a host of lane-keeping and adaptive cruise controls for a safer and smarter driving experience.

Striking New Look

Visually, the 2026 Solterra is more refined than ever. It debuts an all-new EV lighting signature featuring an illuminated Subaru six-star badge, redesigned LED headlamps, a more aggressive front bumper, and sleek 18- or 20-inch alloy wheels. Around back, updated badging and aerodynamic elements enhance both style and function.

Inside, the cabin is brighter and more open, with improved visibility, horizontal metallic trim, and a wide centre console for smart storage. Optional body-colour wheel arch mouldings and two-tone exterior options round out the Solterra’s more urban, upscale appeal.

On Sale Later This Year

Exact pricing and trim details for the Canadian market will be announced closer to the Solterra’s official release date later in 2025. With cutting-edge updates and increased range and power, the 2026 Solterra positions itself as a serious contender in the growing electric SUV segment.
