Hyundai Motor Company has achieved a remarkable milestone with its all-electric sub-compact SUV, the Hyundai INSTER, being named the 2025 World Electric Vehicle at the World Car Awards, held during the prestigious New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).

The INSTER’s recognition marks Hyundai’s fourth consecutive year of victory at the World Car Awards, reaffirming the brand’s leading role in the global EV movement. A jury of 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries selected the INSTER for its exceptional value, innovative design, and impressive performance in the electric vehicle segment.

“The Hyundai INSTER has been a winner with customers since we introduced it,” said José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. “The fact that our global portfolio is successful both commercially and critically speaks to the hard-working people throughout the Hyundai value chain who are delivering some of the best vehicles on the road today.”

Compact in Size, Big on Features
Hyundai INSTER sets a new benchmark for sub-compact EVs, boasting a distinctive exterior, an intuitive infotainment system, and rapid charging capabilities. The long-range 49-kWh model delivers an estimated 370 km driving range and charges from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes — features that clearly resonated with the World Car Awards jury.

Beyond performance, the INSTER encapsulates Hyundai’s commitment to sustainability and customer-centric innovation. Interestingly, the name “INSTER” combines “intimate” and “innovative”, highlighting its design philosophy centered on social connectivity and futuristic mobility.

A Legacy of Wins
Hyundai continues to dominate the global automotive scene, with the IONIQ 5 N named 2024 World Performance Car, and the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 achieving triple award victories in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

This string of accolades not only strengthens Hyundai’s EV credentials but also solidifies its position as a trailblazer in electric mobility.
