Following the launch of its new sister brand last year and the reveal of its first concept vehicle, Audi is set to unveil the AUDI E5 Sportback, the brand’s first production model, at Auto Shanghai 2025. The E5 Sportback leads a series of debuts and embodies the brand’s philosophy: “the best of both worlds.” The “E” signifies fully electric drive, “5” indicates its position in the mid-size segment, and “Sportback” reflects Audi’s signature coupé-inspired design. Both the new brand and its vehicles are designed specifically for a new generation of Chinese customers. Market launch for the AUDI E5 Sportback is scheduled for late summer 2025.

Audi will also showcase several new models at the event, including the Audi A6L e-tron, Audi A5L, Audi A5L Sportback, and Audi Q5L. The A6L e-tron will be produced at Audi FAW NEV Company’s new facility in Changchun, which was completed in late 2024, with production having started in December that year.

At the world’s leading automotive show, Audi will present a total of 19 models in collaboration with its local partners FAW and SAIC. For the first time, vehicles from both Audi and the new AUDI brand will be displayed together at a shared booth.

The booth will offer an immersive, personalized experience focused on Audi’s strengths in electrification, performance, quattro, design, and advanced technology. Visitors will be encouraged to engage and share their experiences across social media, exploring innovations in range, charging speed, aerodynamics, driver assistance, and lighting design.

Audi will also introduce the next-generation intelligent cockpit, developed specifically for the Chinese market. Built on a new electronics architecture, this system enables a fully customizable digital user experience, including an advanced user interface and enhanced connectivity features tailored for China.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said, “Last year, we took key steps to secure future success in China together with our joint-venture partners FAW and SAIC. As this important market develops further, our tailored models continue to grow in importance. At 2025 Auto Shanghai we are going to show that Audi delivers in China.”
