Hyundai Motor Company has revealed the INSTEROID, a fun and bold interpretation of a ‘dream car’ designed to bring a smile to your face. This sporty design concept takes the popular INSTER sub-compact electric vehicle (EV) and amplifies its personality, using creative flair to forge a stronger emotional connection with the Hyundai brand. The name combines ‘INSTER’ and ‘STEROID,’ reflecting the car’s funky, youthful, and muscular vibe, all built upon the foundation of the INSTER production model. Since its global debut in June 2024, the INSTER has seen strong sales in both Europe and Korea, cementing its position as a sought-after EV.
INSTEROID aims to enhance the emotional experience of driving an electric car, offering fun, eye-catching details that make every part of the car stand out. From the control buttons and instrument cluster to the rear spoiler and brakes, each element embodies the car’s character.
Teaser images reveal how the INSTEROID elevates the INSTER’s design with racing game-inspired features, such as wheel arch air vents, 21-inch wheels, and a bold rear spoiler and diffuser. Signature Pixel LEDs further enhance its dynamic look.
As a one-of-a-kind concept car, INSTEROID embodies Hyundai Motor’s innovative vision. It serves as a thrilling ‘glitch’ in the automotive world, merging the futuristic aesthetics of video games with real-world engineering to create a car that feels like it’s jumped out of a digital racetrack.
Hyundai plans to fully unveil the INSTEROID to the public in early April 2025.
