TATA.ev, the leader in India’s electric vehicle (EV) revolution, has announced an ambitious plan to significantly enhance the country’s EV charging network. Building on its milestone of over 200,000 EV sales, TATA.ev aims to more than double its available charging points to 400,000 by 2027, ensuring greater accessibility and convenience for EV users.

Expanding Charging Infrastructure Nationwide Since 2019, TATA.ev has spearheaded India’s EV charging infrastructure development by collaborating with Tata Group companies for private and home charging solutions and initiating public charging networks in high-adoption urban centers.

In 2023, the company launched its ‘Open Collaboration’ framework, forming strategic partnerships with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to accelerate charging infrastructure along highways, thereby enhancing long-distance EV mobility. This initiative has led to a doubling of public charging points within 15 months, surpassing 18,000 chargers.

To further accelerate EV adoption, TATA.ev has unveiled ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’ with the ambitious target of deploying over 400,000 charging points within the next two years.

Key Highlights of Open Collaboration 2.0:

  • 400,000 charging points nationwide by 2027
  • 30,000+ public chargers via Open Collaboration 2.0
  • Introduction of TATA.ev Verified Chargers – accessible through the iRA app for easy location of reliable charging stations
  • 500+ TATA.ev Mega Chargers – featuring priority access and benefits for TATA.ev customers
  • Launch of a 24×7 Dedicated Charging Helpline for customer support
  • Unified Payments Wallet for seamless transactions across charging networks

TATA.ev is reinforcing its collaboration with key CPOs to install 30,000 new public charging stations, which will support all EV brands, making charging more accessible and convenient. This extensive network will cater to the rising demand for zero-emission mobility, fast-track India’s transition to sustainable transportation, and enhance charging reliability nationwide.

Speaking at the launch of Open Collaboration 2.0, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, stated, “TATA.ev has led India’s EV transformation not only by introducing cutting-edge electric vehicles but also by building a robust nationwide charging infrastructure. With Open Collaboration 2.0, we aim to expand the network to over 400,000 points in the next two years in partnership with leading CPOs. This initiative will improve charging speed, reliability, and user experience, while also ensuring sustainable growth for CPOs. Additionally, our partnerships will enable the deployment of TATA.ev Mega Chargers in key cities and highways, along with TATA.ev Verified Chargers to assure quality infrastructure. A dedicated Charging Helpline and a unified payment solution will further enhance accessibility and dependability for EV users.”
