The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS, the fastest SS model ever produced, will make history as the official pace car for the 67th DAYTONA 500 at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). This marks the first time a Blazer has paced the prestigious race and the first instance of an electric vehicle leading “The Great American Race.”

Set to go on sale later this quarter, the Blazer EV SS features Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode, delivering an impressive 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds. With 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, the pace car is a production model with no performance modifications but includes custom graphics and integrated strobe lighting.

“Chevrolet has a long history with racing – it’s in our DNA – and the Blazer EV SS is a testament to that,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “We’re excited for customers to watch the Blazer EV SS — the quickest SS we’ve ever produced — pace such an iconic race this weekend.”

Blazer EV SS Features Cutting-Edge Technology

In addition to its breathtaking acceleration, the Blazer EV SS boasts front Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned chassis, a class-leading 17.7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen, and standard Super Cruise driver assistance technology. It also offers an EPA-estimated range of 303 miles.

“We’re honored to have Chevrolet as a founding partner of Daytona International Speedway and to feature the all-new Blazer EV SS at the DAYTONA 500,” said DIS track president Frank Kelleher. “The Blazer EV SS is surely going to set the pace for another exciting race.”

This year’s event marks the 16th time Chevrolet has led the Daytona 500 field to green.

Chevrolet to Unveil Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype

Chevrolet will also debut the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype ahead of the DAYTONA 500. Developed in collaboration with NASCAR and OEM partners, the prototype showcases emerging automotive technologies and highlights the brand’s commitment to innovation.

“Our Chevrolet V8 engines continue to be an important part of NASCAR. Racing has always been an important platform for Chevrolet to test, learn and explore new technologies,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president – GM Performance & Motorsports.

Chevrolet to Pace Entire Daytona Opening Weekend

In addition to leading the DAYTONA 500, Chevrolet will pace the NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series races at DIS:

  • Corvette Stingray will pace the Xfinity Series United Rentals 300 on Saturday, February 15.
  • Chevrolet Silverado RST will pace the Craftsman Truck Series Fresh From Florida 250 on Friday, February 14.

“Chevrolet is extremely proud to be a part of NASCAR’s season openers by pacing all of the events this year at the famed World Center of Racing,” added Campbell. “We are privileged to continue our relationship with Daytona International Speedway again in 2025.”

Chevrolet’s Legacy at Daytona

Race fans will have the chance to get up close to all four models – Blazer EV SS, Blazer EV.R, Corvette Stingray, and Silverado RST – at Chevrolet display properties around DIS.

Chevrolet continues its dominance in NASCAR, having swept all three NASCAR Manufacturers’ Championships in 2024 for the second consecutive year. Across the three series, Chevrolet has secured 102 victories at Daytona International Speedway, including 26 DAYTONA 500 wins – the most of any manufacturer.
