Ford’s latest electric SUVs, the Explorer and Capri, will come factory-fitted exclusively with Continental tires, the German tire manufacturer announced. The EcoContact 6 Q summer tires have been approved in 19, 20, and 21-inch sizes for both models, while the AllSeasonContact all-weather tires have also been approved for year-round use in the 19-inch size.

Optimized for Electric Vehicles

Designed for efficiency, comfort, and safety, the EcoContact 6 Q and AllSeasonContact tires cater specifically to the needs of electric vehicles. The EcoContact 6 Q tires feature a specialized rubber compound that minimizes energy absorption and reduces rolling resistance, ensuring a quieter ride and greater efficiency. The tread has been optimized to enhance mileage, braking performance, and cornering stability, even at high speeds.

The AllSeasonContact tires, classified in rolling resistance class A, offer enhanced grip and braking performance in all weather conditions. They also come with an XL marking, making them suitable for the increased load demands of electric vehicles.

Supporting Sustainable Mobility

Continental’s commitment to sustainability and innovation aligns with the growing demand for energy-efficient and low-noise tire solutions. The company has engineered these tires to address the added weight of electric vehicles due to their batteries while maintaining high performance and longevity.

Ford’s decision to fit the Explorer and Capri with Continental tires underscores the automaker’s focus on optimizing efficiency, safety, and driving comfort for its electric vehicle lineup. With Continental supplying original equipment to the world’s leading EV manufacturers, the partnership further cements the company’s role in the evolving landscape of sustainable mobility.
