Volvo Cars has announced two significant technology upgrades for its 2026 model year lineup, enhancing user experience, infotainment, and charging capabilities across multiple models.

The XC40, EX40, EC40, S60, V60, V60 Cross Country, V90, and V90 Cross Country will feature Volvo’s new-generation Volvo Car UX, offering a faster, more intuitive infotainment experience powered by the Snapdragon® Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Additionally, Plug & Charge will be introduced in EX30, EX40, and EC40 models in Europe, streamlining public EV charging.

A Smarter, More Personalized User Experience
The Volvo Car UX, already seen in the EX30, EX90, and upcoming XC90, will now extend across the brand’s lineup. Designed to be safer, more focused, and highly personalized, the system simplifies interaction with the car’s infotainment screen while integrating Google services. Key improvements include:

A redesigned home screen with quick access to frequently used apps like navigation, media, and phone.
A dynamic contextual bar that adapts based on driving situations.
An upgraded driver display with a clearer, larger navigation view.
Volvo will also roll out these software enhancements via over-the-air updates to millions of Volvo cars built since 2020, ensuring a consistent and modern user experience.

Twice as Fast, 10 Times Better Graphics
Volvo’s infotainment system is set for a major performance boost with the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, first seen in the EX90 and EX30. The system is now twice as fast as its predecessor, with graphics processing that is up to 10 times more powerful, delivering a lag-free, highly responsive experience.

“This upgrade significantly improves in-car connectivity while reducing driver distraction,” said Anders Bell, Volvo Cars’ Chief Engineering and Technology Officer. “Our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies ensures that Volvo’s infotainment system remains at the forefront of innovation, offering a premium, continuously upgradable experience.”

The Snapdragon platform will also be introduced in the new XC90 SUV later this year.

Seamless EV Charging with Plug & Charge
Volvo’s Plug & Charge service, debuting in EX30, EX40, and EC40 models in Europe, aims to simplify the EV charging process. With this feature, drivers can:

Plug in their car at a compatible station—charging starts automatically.
Skip additional authentication steps—payment is processed seamlessly.
Find compatible stations via Google Maps or the Volvo Cars app.
“With Plug & Charge, there’s no need for extra cards or manual authentication,” said Erik Severinson, Volvo Cars’ Chief Product and Strategy Officer. “It’s a true ‘plug in and go’ experience, making EV ownership even more convenient.”

Volvo’s Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability
As part of its vision for software-defined cars, Volvo continues to invest in cutting-edge technology to enhance user experience and connectivity across its lineup. These over-the-air updates align with the company’s strategy of continuous improvement, ensuring that all Volvo models—regardless of powertrain—offer a seamless and consistent digital experience.

With these advancements, Volvo Cars is setting new standards in automotive technology, electrification, and driver-centric innovation as it moves toward a more connected and sustainable future.
