LeafyBus, a New Delhi-based electric bus operator, has set a new standard in sustainable transportation by introducing India’s first 360 KW fast-charging infrastructure, enabling its electric buses to clock an impressive 900 kilometers daily on the Delhi-Dehradun route. This breakthrough, achieved in collaboration with GLIDA India (Fortum Charge & Drive India), marks a significant milestone in addressing the challenges of long-distance electric vehicle (EV) travel in India.
The 360 KW fast charger drastically reduces charging time to under 50 minutes, allowing LeafyBus to operate three daily trips while minimizing downtime and enhancing operational efficiency. This development not only ensures the economic viability of high-cost electric buses but also underscores the importance of robust charging infrastructure in India’s EV ecosystem.
Rohan Dewan, Co-Founder and CEO of LeafyBus, expressed his enthusiasm for the achievement:
“By enabling 360 KW fast charging, we have resolved a critical challenge in electric mobility—charging time. Our Delhi-Dehradun route is a testament to the efficiency and sustainability electric vehicles can offer over traditional fuel-based transport.”
Enhancing Passenger Comfort and Safety
In addition to operational efficiency, LeafyBus prioritizes passenger safety and comfort. The buses are equipped with advanced features, including CCTV surveillance, real-time tracking, Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS), and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Passengers can also enjoy a premium AC experience, an on-time guarantee, and enhanced safety measures tailored specifically for women.
Scaling for a Cleaner Future
LeafyBus recently partnered with JBM Electric Vehicles to acquire 200 electric buses and teamed up with AMU (NBFC) to finance the first 10 EV buses for inter-city operations. Dewan highlighted the company’s ambitious growth plans:
“This milestone is just the beginning. With the 360 KW charging infrastructure, we are ready to scale and expand electric travel to more cities, reducing our carbon footprint and promoting a cleaner environment.”
This transformative approach to EV travel is expected to accelerate India’s transition to sustainable transportation while setting a new benchmark for efficiency and innovation in the electric mobility sector.
